Vacancy Details

Seeplaas is looking for an experienced Head Chef who will take control and run

the kitchen department in line with the growth of our Restaurant and Hospitality Catering divisions. This ideal candidate must be a good team leader, self-motivated, hard-working, enthusiastic, and passionate about their food.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDES BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Manage all kitchen operations and food output for the Restaurant, Tasting Room Food Menu and Hospitality Catering
  • Manage the kitchen staff component, kitchen staff operations, teamwork, and train staff members according to food offerings
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing, hygiene and health and safety regulations in the kitchen
  • Quality Control in preparing, cooking and presenting food dishes
  • Maintaining inventory, estimating food consumption, purchasing food and non-food items
  • Ensure all costs are in line with company policy, which includes the sourcing of contractors and suppliers and maintaining good relationships with all food suppliers
  • Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit and stock margins
  • Responsible for the overall management and reporting of inventory including food stock and operational equipment in the kitchen
  • Assist in the creative development of top-end menus for all seasons and events
  • Develop and manage the department’s budget and control expenditures to budgetary requirements
  • Identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities in the kitchen
  • Required Skills
  • stock controller : 2 to 3 years
  • Kitchen Managent : 4 to 5 years
  • Candidate Requirements
  • QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Excellent communications and management skills
  • A passion for food, hospitality, and events
  • Tertiary chef qualification (advantageous)
  • Minimum 4 years of senior/ qualified chef and/or kitchen experience
  • Must have managed a kitchen staff component
  • Strong kitchen reporting, budgeting, stock control, and reconciliation skills
